Is TCF Canada accepted for Express Entry?
Checked November 1, 2026
Yes. For French, IRCC accepts two tests for Express Entry, TCF Canada and TEF Canada. For English it accepts CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training and PTE Core.
A few conditions apply.
- The Federal Skilled Worker program requires NCLC 7 in all four abilities in your first official language. The Canadian Experience Class requires NCLC 7 for TEER 0 or 1 jobs and NCLC 5 for TEER 2 or 3. The score table shows what NCLC 7 means on TCF Canada.
- Your results must be less than 2 years old when you complete your Express Entry profile and again when you submit your permanent residence application. Results that have expired by then lead to a refusal.
- You enter the results in your profile, along with the certificate number and test PIN if the system asks for them.
- Compare the formats before you choose between the two French tests. See TCF Canada or TEF Canada.
The whole process, points included, is covered in TCF Canada for Express Entry.
