How soon can I retake TCF Canada?

Checked November 1, 2026

You can retake TCF Canada as often as you like, as long as there are at least 20 days between two sittings. France Éducation international (FEI) states the rule in its manual and on its TCF Canada page.

Things to plan around.

  • The 20 days are a minimum. Each approved centre sets its own session dates, so there may be no session on day 21, or it may be full.
  • A retake means registering with the centre again, at its current price, and sitting all four tests again.
  • Results for the new sitting take up to 15 working days from FEI’s receipt of the session material.
  • After a disappointing result you get the score or mark and the level for each skill, with no breakdown. FEI does not return annotated copies, advice on what to improve or the number of right answers. Work out for yourself what went wrong, then book.

Retaking for Express Entry? Also check the 2-year age limit on results, at profile and at application, in validity.

Booking and timing are covered in TCF Canada results and validity and how to register.
