Can I take TCF Canada online from home?
Checked November 1, 2026
No. France Éducation international (FEI) describes TCF Canada only as a session in an approved centre, on paper or on one of the centre’s computers, with a speaking test face to face with an examiner. We found no official remote version, so a “TCF Canada online” offer is a practice test or an online booking, not the exam itself.
What FEI’s handbook says about where you sit it
- FEI lists more than 700 approved TCF centres worldwide. Each centre sets its own dates, place and price.
- On a computer session, a supervisor seats you at a workstation identified by your candidate code. On paper, you get a named booklet and answer sheet.
- You are photographed on the day. Without the photo there are no results.
- On the table you may have only your photo ID, your notice to attend and a blue or black pen. No dictionary, notes or phone.
- Speaking is always face to face with an examiner, even when the other tests are on computer.
None of this fits a test taken at home, and the handbook describes no remote version. If a site offers to book a “TCF Canada at home” with an official result, check the centre on FEI’s map before you pay.
What you can do online
Prepare. FEI itself points to free practice on TV5Monde and RFI. For writing, the part you cannot mark yourself, you can write a real TCF Canada task here and get an estimated mark out of 20 with each mistake corrected.
To book the real exam, see how to register. To know whether your centre runs it on paper or on computer, see paper or computer.
