Where can I take TCF Canada, and can I take it in another country?
Checked November 1, 2026
At a centre approved by France Éducation international (FEI), which you choose freely. The handbook gives candidates the right to register at the test centre of their choice, and FEI offers TCF Canada to anyone, whatever their nationality. The TCF network has more than 700 organisations worldwide, on FEI’s map. Ask the centre whether it runs TCF Canada before you pay.
Finding a centre
- Open FEI’s map of TCF centres and search for your city.
- Contact the centre. It gives you the session dates, the venue, the registration process and the price.
- Ask whether it runs TCF Canada, and on paper or on computer.
Each centre is approved by an FEI committee and checked through compliance visits.
In another country
The handbook does not tie the centre to your country of nationality or residence. TCF Canada is for anyone who must prove their French to IRCC, whatever their nationality. To register you need your passport number, and on the day valid photo ID. If you travel for the exam, ask the centre whether you can register and pay from abroad. FEI says nothing about visas, so check the country’s entry rules before you book.
Choosing between centres
- Price. Each centre sets its own, and FEI suggests comparing (TCF Canada price).
- Dates. Each centre runs sessions according to its capacity. Allow 15 working days for results after FEI receives the material.
- Format. The handbook presents headphones for listening as an advantage of the computer version (paper or computer).
FEI describes no remote version (online?). To report a problem with a centre, FEI gives the address tcf@france-education-international.fr. Once you have picked a centre, you can start working on writing here, for free.
