Where to take TCF Canada in Algeria, what it costs and how to register
Checked November 3, 2026
37,500 DA in Oran, Constantine, Annaba and Tlemcen, according to the Institut français d’Algérie pages read on 3 November 2026. The Algiers page did not load, but the FAQ says all five branches, Algiers included, open sessions every month. Registration and payment are online only, on the VFS Global IFAL platform, for all five branches, and each session has a fixed opening date, about 4 weeks before the exam in Annaba. Between two TCFs, count 36 days (one page says 26).
Fee by branch
The Institut français d’Algérie (IFA) runs the TCF in five branches. TCF Canada fees, read on each branch’s TCF page on 3 November 2026, in the TCF Canada section.
| Branch | Fee |
|---|---|
| Oran | 37,500 DA |
| Constantine | 37,500 DA |
| Annaba | 37,500 DA |
| Tlemcen | 37,500 DA |
| Algiers | Page blank that day |
The fee is the same in the four readable branches. Oran and Annaba say it includes tax. Check it on the platform when you pay, since it only shows there after you log in.
Registering on the VFS platform
The IFA FAQ is clear, registration and payment are online only. There is no registration on site.
- Create an account on the VFS Global IFAL platform.
- Pick the branch, TCF Canada and the session.
- Pay online.
Also according to the FAQ, TCF sessions open every month in all five branches. For platform questions, VFS gives a support address and phone number on the IFA TCF page.
When to register
Each session has its own opening date. Annaba publishes its calendar, with an “Inscriptions dès le” (registration from) date for each exam.
| Exam in Annaba | Registration from |
|---|---|
| 2 September 2026, passed | 4 August 2026 |
| 7 October 2026, passed | 8 September 2026 |
| 23 December 2026 | 24 November 2026 |
So registration opens 29 or 30 days, about 4 weeks, before the exam. Note your branch’s date and log in that day. If everything is taken, see no date available.
Rules to know
- ID. For Algerians, a biometric ID card or passport. For foreigners, a biometric passport or consular card. More in ID for the exam.
- Wait between two registrations. The pages disagree. The national page says 26 days between two TCF registrations, the Oran, Constantine, Annaba and Tlemcen pages say 36 days. Count 36 days to be safe, and see retaking TCF Canada.
- Certificate. Since March 2023 the IFA no longer issues a paper certificate. TCF results are valid for 2 years.
- Refunds. We found no refund rule on the IFA pages. Read the terms on the platform before paying.
Before you pay
- Register and pay only on the official VFS platform, never through a middleman who promises a seat.
- Make sure you pick TCF Canada, not TCF tout public or TCF IRN, which do not count for Express Entry.
- Use the same name as on your ID.
General steps are in how to register, and what the fee covers in TCF Canada price.
With seats to grab on opening day, it is better not to have to retake. Write a practice task to see your estimated writing mark before you register.
