TCF Canada writing, corrected answers for each task
Checked November 2, 2026
Many candidates look for a “corrigé”, a corrected answer, for TCF Canada writing. France Éducation international (FEI) does not publish any. Its handbook says scripts are not annotated and that the level comes from assessing a skill, not from correcting mistakes. Every corrected answer you find online comes from a prep site, this one included.
The topics and texts on this page are ours. We never publish topics that candidates report after the exam.
Our full corrected answers
| Task | Full annotated answer | Topics with a B2 model answer |
|---|---|---|
| 1, a message | Task 1, two versions with comments | neighbour, snowstorm, bus, shared flat |
| 2, an article or letter | Task 2, two versions with comments | first winter, festival, food bank, light rail |
| 3, a comparison and an opinion | Task 3, two versions with comments | remote work, car, rents, volunteering, cell phones |
Three excerpts corrected line by line
Each excerpt uses one of our topics. The excerpts are shortened and stay under the task’s word minimum, because they are there to show the corrections. The full answers, inside the range, are in the table above. The first version has the mistakes we see most often, the second fixes them. The criterion is the FEI family we link the mistake to. That link is our reading, because FEI publishes no detailed scale.
Task 1, the meeting moved because of the snowstorm
The consigne asks you to tell a colleague the meeting is moving to video, explain why and say what she must prepare (the topic).
Version to correct
Corrected version
| Before | After | Why (criterion) |
|---|---|---|
| demain il y a une tempête | une forte tempête de neige est annoncée | the storm is forecast, and the reason for the change becomes clear (pragmatic) |
| sera pas | n’aura pas lieu | in writing, the negation keeps its ne (linguistic) |
| des choses pour la réunion | trois diapositives sur l’avancement du projet | the consigne asks what she must prepare, and des choses does not say (pragmatic) |
| des problème | des problèmes | plural after des (linguistic) |
| a mon cellulaire | sur mon cellulaire | a without an accent is the verb avoir, a preposition is needed here (linguistic) |
Task 2, a month at the food bank
The consigne asks you to tell the story of a month of volunteering and say what it gave you, for a community group’s newsletter (the topic).
Version to correct
| Before | After | Why (criterion) |
|---|---|---|
| removed | a vague verdict at the start, the opinion comes after the facts (pragmatic) |
| je pensais que je vais trier | je pensais trier | je vais does not fit a past narrative, and the infinitive is lighter (linguistic) |
| a past state takes the imparfait, and the consequence adds a detail (linguistic) |
| je connais | je connaissais | the story stays in the past (linguistic) |
| nothing | une mère m’a confié que… | an anecdote prepares what the experience gave you (pragmatic) |
Task 3, should rents be capped
This is only the first part, the one that presents the two documents (the topic and its documents).
Version to correct
| Before | After | Why (criterion) |
|---|---|---|
| les loyers ont augmenté de 20 % en deux ans | qui a vu son loyer grimper bien plus vite que son salaire | rephrase instead of reusing the document’s figure and words, since copying sentences is a case FEI lists (pragmatic) |
| Le premier document dit… Le deuxième document dit… | Les deux auteurs s’opposent… au contraire | compare the two views instead of setting one after the other (pragmatic) |
| dit, dit | réclame, craint | verbs that name each author’s position (linguistic) |
| qu’il faut construire plus vite | il faudrait selon lui bâtir davantage | the conditional and selon lui mark it as his view (linguistic) |
Using a corrected answer without memorising it
FEI lists a text learned by heart among the cases that can lead to “A1 non atteint”. A corrected answer shows what changes between two versions. It is not a stock of sentences to recite.
- Write your own text on the topic first, without looking at the corrected answer.
- Then compare line by line, as in the tables above.
- Keep the structure and the linking words, not the sentences.
- Rewrite the same task on another topic from the list.
For a correction of your own text, with each mistake and an estimated NCLC, have it corrected on NCLC Prep. It is an AI estimate, not the official mark. What separates a B1 answer from a B2 answer is shown in B1 or B2 writing.
