Fees

Fees of the Institut français du Burundi (IFB), read on its pages on 3 November 2026.

Option	Fee
TCF Canada on computer, four tests	800,000 BIF
TCF Canada on paper, four tests	850,000 BIF
A single test	300,000 BIF

For immigration, take all four tests. The IFB also sells optional preparation, 350,000 BIF one to one or 150,000 BIF in a group. Do not confuse it with the TCF IRN, at 700,000 BIF, which is not for Canada.

Next sessions

On computer. The late 2026 calendar gives 20 seats per session. It also lists sessions on 17 and 19 November, with registration from 27 October. The site does not say whether seats remain, so ask the IFB. The last session of the year is on 10 December 2026, with registration opening on Tuesday 24 November at 10 am. Earlier sessions opened about two to three weeks before the exam.

On paper. The next session runs from 25 January to 2 February 2027. Registration opens from 10 November 2026, and the IFB says seats are limited. A preparation course runs from 4 to 23 January 2027.

The difference between the two formats is in paper or computer.

Registration

Register online on the computer or paper TCF page.
You get a receipt.
Pay by transfer at a Bancobu counter, or by cheque handed to the IFB accounts office. The IFB does not accept cash.

With 20 seats per computer session, be ready the day registration opens.

Absence and refunds

Under the 2026 terms of sale, an absence or late arrival cancels the exam with no refund. A justified absence moves you to the next session. A refund is only possible with proof (medical certificate, training, mission order or death) given within 48 hours after the exam, and only if you cannot sit it later. Claims are made within one month.

The terms we read say nothing about the ID required or the wait between two sittings. Ask the centre. The general rules are in ID for the exam and retaking TCF Canada.

Before you pay

Check on FEI’s TCF centre map that the IFB still offers TCF Canada.
Pay only the IFB, through Bancobu or by cheque, never a middleman.
If the session is full, see no date available, or the Kigali centre in TCF Canada in Rwanda.

At 800,000 BIF a sitting, it is worth knowing where your writing stands before you pay. Write one practice task and get an estimated mark.
